Bonalu Jathara – started in Telangana in the year 1813.
The festival to the people of Telangana, but a custom in itself,a tradition which started way back in 1813, a celebration which unites the people of Telangana.
They all involve themselves with all their zeal and look forward to it with great interest and enthusiasum, all year. Bonalu is a unique Telangana Festival celebrated only in Telangana.
Bonalu Jatara, the Telangana's popular annual festival in whihch we worship goddess Mahankali is alall set to begin on June 25 with the offering of 'Bonam' at Golconda Jagadamba temple.
The festival is celebrated mainly in Hyderabad and Secunderabad in Telangana in month of Ashada (July – August) every year. The Mahankali temples across the twin cities will be visited by thousands of devotees on Sundays.
The month long festival includes colorful processions and community feasts. After the formation of the Telangana State, the government had declared 'Bonalu' as a state festival.
Bonalu Jatara is a month long affair and includes all colourful processions and community feasts.Bonalu Jathara Starts with Golconda Bonalu Jathara to Ujjaini Mahankali Temple, Balkampet Yellamma Temple and ends with Akkanna Madanna Bonala Jathara.
One Just can't miss it if they are in Hyderabad city at this time, you just cannot miss Bonalu Jathara!
